Everyone has a backstory – a roadmap that guides us to our purpose and passion. I start mine with a simple statement: Together, anything is possible.
I come from a long line of visionaries, inventors, community builders, and social entrepreneurs. Before there was a railroad system in Eastern North Carolina, my 2nd great-grandfather dared to dream of re-creating the Venice Canal to help farmers get their goods to market. My great- grandfather held three farming patents and build five thriving companies. This spirit was passed down to my father, who gave me this advice: Take 5 minutes out of every day to think about something I need, but don’t have or something I used that could be improved and to make note of it.
That 5-minute daily habit has served me well. It’s more about the inside than the outside. It motivates me to look for patterns, contrasts, and connections in all things. To seek adventures that dare me to rethink what is impossible. To discover moments of synchronicity that let me glimpse my own greatness. To find the courage, the freedom, and the bravery to be all that I am.
I am an inventor and innovator - exploring the bigness of life, experiencing the self-permission and freedom to invent, inspiring others to find their courage to realize and fulfill their talents and abilities, and instigating positive social change - just like my fathers before me.
